Batik art
Hey everyone,
Make your wardrobe come alive!
Batik is commonly used to describe a fabric dyeing process that utilizes a special resist method.
The history behind it:
Indonesia, Africa, China, Middle East, Philippines, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka are some of the developed countries in the field of batik. Batik art was introduced to Sri Lanka between 1950-1952 by Mrs. Soma Udabage. She also studied the art of batik while studying art and sculpture at the 'Shanti Niketan' in India.
The batik fabric has grown to become quite popular all over the world, specially in Asian countries. Batik fabrics enjoy a high demand in the global fashion industry. Modern batik fabrics take much inspiration from the past, they have very few similarities with the traditional styles.
There are several batik dyeing techniques. I simply explain you, first of all you must plan your design on the fabric. Cover the design by using hot wax. Apply dye with the chosen color of dye. When the dyeing process is finally over, you should remove the wax by boiling and fabric is ready to use.
