Statue of St. Gianna
Hi reader!
Saint Gianna Beretta Molla.
Story behind St. Gianna
Gianna Beretta Molla (4 October 1922 - 28 April 1962) was a Roman Catholic pediatric physician, a wife, a mother, in less than 40 years. She was born in Milano, Italy. She was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a leader in the Catholic Action movement, also enjoyed skiing and mountain climbing. She earned degrees in medicine and surgery from the University of Pavia. She started her marriage life in 1955. Before her marriage she wrote to Pietro: "Love is the most beautiful sentiment that the lord has put into the soul of men and women." She had three children. Early in her final pregnancy, doctors discovered that Gianna had both a child and a tumor in her uterus. She allowed the surgeons to remove the tumor but not to perform the complete hysterectomy that they recommended, which would have killed the child. Seven months later in April 1962, She gave birth to her daughter. The following week Gianna Molla died at home. Gianna's beatification was celebrated in 1994 and she was canonized as a saint a decade later in mid-2004 in Saint Peter's Square.
In last few days I did a statue about 1 1/2 feet. I created the Sri Lankan very first statue of St. Gianna Beretta Molla.
I used modeling clay to built up and took a plaster mold.
I spent last month for the project. Successfully I did my best.
Thank you so much for reading.
